Launch of Breathing Space — Holy Covenant Spirituality Centre
Breathing Space builds on what is already happening in the parish to deepen
people's spiritual lives. If you are interested in exploring ways of listening to self,
each other and to God, and developing spiritual practices that are life enhancing,
Breathing Space may be just what you need. Our vision is that
Breathing Space will offer a safe place for exploring and sharing our stories
either through one on one spiritual direction or companioning, or through participation
in a range of group activities.

Commissioning of Archdeacon Anne Ranse as Holistic Care Nurse
Bishop Stuart's commissioning of Archdeacon Anne Ranse as the inaugural Holistic
Care Nurse at Holy Covenant on Thursday 26 March was attended by 70 people drawn
from community organisations, neighbouring parishes, other clergy, Holy Covenant
parishioners and members of Anne's family.
Holy Covenant has spent four years researching community needs in the South East
Belconnen area surrounding the parish at Jamison and the success of similar positions
at churches in other States of Australia and overseas. Anne's appointment is the first
in the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

Commissioning of Holistic Care Nurse
|
Anne's new role is voluntary and initially one day per week. She will provide both
spiritual guidance for those who may be increasingly seeking it as they face ageing
and illness and assistance with their physical and social needs. She will be supported
by volunteers drawn from the Parish.
At the commissioning service, Anne recounted how much of her life had prepared her
for this new role. She completed her nursing training and left immediately to work
in outback Australia in mining towns and Indigenous communities. More recently, she
has been involved in ministering to the residents of aged care facilities.
Members of Holy Covenant presented Anne with symbols of her new role - a blood pressure
monitor, a home communion set and membership of the Faith Community Nurses Association.
She was also welcomed on behalf of the wider community by Rev Dr Elizabeth MacKinlay,
a noted authority on the care of body, mind and spirit among older members of the
community.
